Giving Young People Skills for Life

1st Davyhulme Scout Group, founded 1935

1st Davyhulme Scout Group was formed in 1935 and was initially linked (sponsored) by St Mary’s Church Davyhulme.  The Group remained sponsored by the church until 1953 when it became an “open group” basically meaning that any boy wishing to join the Group could do so without having to belong to St Mary’s.

The Group Headquarters was opened on Saturday 9th May 1953 and had taken three and a half years to build; all labour was provided free by Group Members, Friends, and the Group Committee.

Over the years many things in Scouting have changed but our basic values and aims have not.  We at 1st Davyhulme hope to give each member an opportunity to learn, have fun, and begin to understand their part in our Community.
